 Role of Games in Sindh 

Before discussing the role of games/sports in sindh it is nessesory to understand the necessities and compulsion of games/sports in daily life. Games/Sports play a basic role in physical and mental development, games/sports undergoes a major role in shaping a person's outlook and inculcate the values like optimism and the ability of taking failure in one's stride. Games impart a sense of discipline, togetherness, relaxation and tolerance.

Games/sports teach us the value of time and its importance that how a minute or even a second is important because during a competition one second is enough to decide the fate of a sportsperson that either he/she will win or lose. Games/sports make a person physically and physiologically active, sportive, daring and adventurous capable of facing the challenges in future life.

Now coming towards the discussion over Sindh that is one of the four provinces of Pakistan also commonly known as Mehran, by area Sindh is the 3^rd largest province of Pakistan and by population it is the second largest. There are a number of games/sports that are played in Sindh pakistan in different cities and towns. let's talk about few of the important games/sports that are played in Sindh Pakistan that reflects the cultural identity. The games that are played in a side local area are known as regional sports in which a person or group competes against one another so generally the regional sports of any region are relied on their culture likewise Sindh Pakistan is a home to regional and traditional sports like;

Wanjh watti

Thipai rand

Kodi kodi

Malakhra

Biloor

Horse racing

Cattle racing etc

Other internationally played games like Wrestling, Hockey, Cricket, Basket ball, Kabaddi and Squash are also played not only in Sindh but all over the country. People also gamble in these sports and win/lose money in thousands or even in lacs.

Now lets take a short look over the history of "The sindh Games". According to a report "The Sindh Games were launched 31 years ago in “LARKANA” Sindh and played an important and significant role in promoting games/sports accross the province and also in bringing the rural and urban sportsman closer through different games competition.The Sindh Olympic Association, with collaboration of district sports committee LARKANA, held The Sindh Games first time at LARKANA from December 1st to 3rd 1986.

The following games were included Athletics, Bodybuilding, Boxing, Cycling, Football, Malh, Volleyball, weight lifting and wrestling for men and athletics for women. On trial basis shooting ball was also included at divisional level these games were held at district level.

The Hyderabad city hosted the event four times in 1991, 2000, 2006, 2008, LARKANA 3 times in 1986, 1995, 2009 and Karachi 3 times in 1989, 1999, 2010.Mirpurkhas twice in 1987, 1996 and SUKKUR once in 1993.

Government of Sindh had established a seprate ministry of games whose basic function is to accelerate and gear up the task in better way. In educational institutions the physical education and games are regarded as compulsory subjects in order to develop student's interest in games. The game's materials are provided through government funds, several training centers and sport clubs are also established in sindh with government collaboration.

Games/Sports have a great potential to offer career opportunities that is why sports should be taken very seriously from the very young age as Sports are good means of suitable earnings. Games also offers a number of opportunity to prove young talents among the nation thus games/sports have a great value in life. Sports facilities are being developed in rural and urban areas. There are playgrounds in villages. Sports infrastructure are being developed everywhere so as to promote them. Various sports organizations are also doing well in promoting games. If we talk about Rural areas of sindh there are so many games which are played at the domestic level of Pakistan. In sindh the craze of Cricket game is too much people children even the elders they used to play cricket game all the day because the passion of game is too much high.
