MUNs in Hyderabad
MUN (Model United Nation), is an extra-curricular activity in which students act as a delegates to United Nations and stimulate UN committees. MUN to Hyderabad was firstly introduced by Faaiz Ahmed. The name of event was HYDMUN. It was 4 days event in which educational along with social nights were also included. The main objective of these MUNs were to tell students how UN works and to polish their debating skills.
After that many MUNs came in the market such as NKMUN, FPSMUN, TCSMUN, BMUN and many more but slowly it diverted from education event to social event. The young generation was much more attracted to social events rather than going in to educational committees session. The MUNs presidents are started to make it business by emphasizing on their social nights more than MUN committee session. Here youngster came for dating, candidate photography and to enjoy not to learn something.
An event named NKMUN started its 2nd edition registrations on 16 May 2016. They promised their delegates of 4 day event in which they would give them 3 day committee session (in hotel indus) and 3 social nights (the main social night was concert of Asim Azhar). People register for it because they want to experience the MUN session and first time ever Asim Azhar in hyderabad. One day before the 4-day event they changed the sessions venue from indus hotel to a low class school. They changed it because hotel Indus didn't gave them the halls because NKmun organization was failed to give them advance. The delegates were angry because they did not get what they paid for. On the day of concert Asim Azhar releases video on social media telling that he is not going to come hyderabad because Executive board of NKmun was also failed to pay them advance money. As president before registrations were closed said we have registered over 250 delegates. Per delegate fees was 2500/= rupees and nkmun had many sponsers such as Unique, Corona paints and many more.
Nowadays schools and colleges like The City School, Beconhouse, and many more have started MUNs because they also know by naming it on educational event parents won't back out to send their children. The FPS (Foundation Public School) also has its own MUN, Last time they call Farhan Saeed again a big attraction to youngster. The executive council in closing ceremony said that they got around 300+ delegates in FPSmun and each delegate has to pay 2500/= as registration fee. They got sponsers as Abduallah Builders and developers, Jack man fabrics and trailor, Bridge power and much more. So question is why a school who is already
taking registration fee from students need sponsors? and if they cant afford such singer than why they are calling them?
The parents should start thinking "Is it really worth it to send their children in MUNs? Rather than investing same amount to something better than this?". The government should create a team which look after these matters and investigate before any event happens because its not only our generation who is getting cheated, it will carry on to upcoming generations too.
